ESCARE - Infinity Crime {Drunk Dial} Cassette/ digital release from this duo outta Portland, Oregon that was recorded during lockdown and features 14 tracks of minimalist art-Punk - think TALKING HEADS at their most grating, some haunting Goth-esque sounds, the angst of GANG OF FOUR and laden with lo-fi DIY aesthetic and you could be close. Interesting stuff, not that it totally enthralled but of the tracks, ‘Truth Is...’, ‘Brain Island’ and the title track all impressed. Seems drummer Papi would record the drum tracks and the other fella, Charlie, would then construct the music and lyrics over that. As said, an interesting experiment but one that ultimately bored more than entertained. (24.03.21)
